Fabeyes, anything that increases their brand awareness is great, but in my perfect world...
I'd drop the "Electronics", especially given the sale of the contract manufacturing business.
I'd find a way to find a way to change the name. On the surface, a ridiculous idea given that they are a subsid of MU and the time and effort spent already to market their boxes as Micron, but...
To my ears, in my "one man focus group" (to borrow from a really great Fortune column) the name "Micron" - it just sounds, I don't know, "junky", "cheap", "like it fell off the back of a truck".
Which just isn't true. IMHO, they make some very good boxes that can go head-to-head with a player like DELL in terms of quality.
In other words - fine products, crappy name. For memory chips, "Micron" doesn't matter. DELL, CPQ, etc. couldn't care less. But selling boxes - a totally different sale. So do what it takes to make selling easier, not harder.
My suggestion - come up with a roadmap for building the brand that gradually de-emphasizes "Micron", but does so in a way that doesn't totally flush whatever expenditures went into building the brand already (which is easier said than done).
Good trading,
