Doug, good to see you here. I don't think VIAS is doomed. I don't view MatriDigm as significant competition. Most companies with significant Y2k projects are using tools from Viasoft. Considering the sharply higher Y2k-related earnings though 2000 and the non-Y2k earnings stream after 2000, Viasoft's p/e is reasonable. On Zitel...when MatriDigm published the press release introducing their product, it confirmed a short-term top (the 20-point down day on huge volume signalled it). When the news is out, it's already over. Over the intermediate term, though, I don't know what Zitel will do - maneuvers by market makers, SOES traders, institutions, and shorts have a direct effect on the stock.
