To all, My son has a 77 Monte Carlo and yesterday the Auto Transmission began slipping. I am considering installing a late model, overdrive transmission (700R4 or 4L60E) and was wondering if anyone has any info on what the conversion will require. It seems I read somewhere that the newer transmissions are longer than the older ones, so I assume I will have to have the drive shaft shortened. Any and all comments will be appreciated. TIA, Phil
