pezz, sorry I never meant to write a dissertation on every manifestation of those broad themes. People can agree on direction, without necessarily agreeing on the underlying methods which get us there.
Please explain to me how a woman can carry a baby to 9 months and then be threatened with her life if she has the baby removed vs having the baby killed? It may happen since I'm no doctor, but I can't visualize nor understand it. It strikes me as one of those media spin items where they just say it so much people believe it. Have you ever seen a case of a mother aborting the fetus during birth? I've watched my wife give birth to two children, one of which was very scary, and my reality tells me there are other options.
No, what I believe in most cases happens is that near the end of gestation the parents have an ultra-sound and find out the baby is malformed or suffering from some disease. So the parents decide their lives would be easier if they killed the child. Sad decision definitely, and one I'm sure the parents agonize over. However, if a child can be removed from the womb and survive on it's own. It has a right to live! It's really as simple as that to me. Some of the greatest thinkers in history have been wheel-chair bound individuals.
Another thing that strikes me as hypocritical regarding late term abortion is this...Think of all the horrific things you might have seen watching movies or television, bodies ripped apart, thousands of people shot, the most gruelling things hollywood could imagine. Then ask yourself this. Have you ever seen a late term abortion performed? Especially one in which the fetus is about to be born?? Then ask yourself this. Why? If so many people are willing to defend it, then why not show one? The answer is obvious. Showing an actual abortion during birth, would so profoundly effect people they would ban it immediately. Ever wonder why?
