The next wave of acquisitions in the very high-speed switch router market:
We have seen the investment frenzy in Juniper. The high-speed IP switch router segment is hot, extremely hot. As the popularity of the Internet and Web skyrocket and grow, and the market in a double_exponent upward curve, the products that these companies are coming out with will play a crucial role. All the big players are in Juniper, both with money and technolgy exhange, but not csco. Other companies in this sector, NetCore, Avici, Pluris etc. will very likely be acquired by large companies. Note that some service providers are in trial using IP switch router products from these companies. So which companies are likely to buy them: 1. Establsihed PC, workstation oriented companies such as INTC, MSFT and SUNW. They'll like to get a piece of the great margin mkt. 2. Large telecom companies, LU, NT, Alcatel, Ericsson, NEC and others. They'll also love to get this great margin business. 3. As usual, by 3COM, ASND, NN, and other networking companies. They'll compete with CSCO head-to-head. 4. The chance of csco buying one of these high-end switch router companies is very slim. Why? imo, it'll sort of prove that the router king is not a king anymore. |
