This phrase, "Who am I" seems to be where much of our difference in interpretation lies. You (correct me if I'm wrong) believe that you are Bob, and Bob is entirely separate from God, and one who tries to be 'of God' is drowning in ego.
I believe just the opposite. I believe that the "I" that I thought was Darrin is the egomaniac. And that this "I" is exactly what needs to be pushed out the door to be shut, which none shall open. I do not believe that God's light is unapproachable. I believe that this is our purpose for being here in Earthly body, and that the only one who cannot approach it is the 'not God' of the ego. The purpose of accepting the christ is to receive of a true yardstick of what is and what is not God, so that our ego may be recognized, and that garment discarded, lifting the veil.
You say you are not the embodiment of all truth and righteousness. Neither am I. 'All' is an absolute (as is God), and I have only begun to remove my lies. But as we go through this process, aren't we removing the falsehoods and vanities of the ego, and uncovering that which is like God within? If so, is that of us which more and more closely approaches God NEW, or simply previously covered by ego? It would seem to me that there is always a bit of God in us, but in our confusion, we simply don't see it. Why would you seek to believe yourself as having been empty, rather than a belief that we were full all along, and simply refused to see it until you were saved? Were we saved from ourselves, or from that which we mistakenly believed was ourself?
I am reminded of the coach who tries to inspire by reverse psychology saying,"You are nothing, you can't do it. Don't even try." Or the one who says,"You're already a winner. You know how to do this. Just put your fears and hesitations aside and do it." Since we are our own coaches in this life, which is far from a game, which coach would you rather be?
