I expect the liberal answer to always be the government as the solution. If bigger government and more spending solved problems, we'd have no problems!

Depends on what you mean by liberal.

And it also depends on what you mean by "conservative". Self-described conservatives tend to be very big on things like military spending, for example. And on tougher sentencing for criminals, and on building more jails. And how about banning abortion -- is that not asking for more, rather than less, government regulation?

I really don't see that much difference between "liberals" and "conservatives" where things like government regulation & spending are concerned. Both are for it, for the most part. It is just that they want to regulate and/or spend money on different things.
