Thread,

Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between a virtual MS file and a real one. I am trying to set up the QP2 stuff I got Friday. I have created two directories to use for virtual files. One (called Meta) was created with the Virtual Profile utility and contains sub-directories for IRL Groups, SIC Codes and S&P data. I am fairly sure this is a virtual directory.

The second directory (unfortunately called Virtual) was created with the "Output to Metastock" utility from lists I output to various subdirectories (in directory Virtual). What makes me suspicious about this directory is that I can change its name and Metastock still finds the charts, but MS will not find any charts if I change the name of the first directory (Meta).

I guess this indicates that I don't have a clue as to what I am doing. I would like to set up a few virtual directories that I can move charts in and out of, as use as a place to put the virtual output of scans. (Based on the problems setting up my data, I am not sure I will graduate to scans though).

Does anyone have some tips. I would be particularly interested in how some of you more experience users organize your data.

Thanks
Tim Lumley
