Sorry, but that was mostly a crock of you-know-what. Prozac is not there to treat anything, but what it does treat, it treats well. Pateints shouldn't be making decisions about what med to take, and if a dr. simply says okay when a patient asks without thinking, the doc is far from being a legit. doc.
BTW, the so-called strange situation leading to the removal of l-tryptophan was a problem called eosinophilic myalgic syndrome, well beyond a minor little nothing. However, it wasn't likely the l-tryptophan itself responsible. Nevertheless, who decided that taking an amino acid precursor by mouth could somehow change the serotonin levels in the brain, let alone in a way necessary to alleviate depression, even if serotonin is a later product of tryptophan metabolism (5-hydroxy-tryptamine)?
Just my 2 cents.
Have a nice monday,
