To Bill Murphy (Midas)
Bill ,

Thank You for visiting MIQ Silcon Investor site and offering to visit you Midas du Metropole. Your site is very original (I came across it before early 1998) and interesting to visit.
I personally met and spoke with Jim Speros in Toronto several times. I met other MIQ directors at 1998 spring Prospectors and Developers Show in Toronto.
MIQ represents largest position in my portfolio since 1997 for several reasons:
1. Good track record and exploration experience (specifically Carlin Trend region of Nevada) of key players in the company.
2. Geological structure that Railroad project is located on.

For this bet all early MIQ investors where reworded by solid Kinross deal with the company. This did not transpired into immediate shares appreciation (as some late investors may have expected) just another step closer to possible major mineral discovery. In today's
metal market major mining companies are looking for most economical mineral deposits. They are surface or near surface bulk deposits. Most MIQ exploration holes to date indicate that. Carlin Trend is geologically favourable for such deposits.
MIQ stated, in the past, that their goal is to identify shallow deposit(s) first, prove it to be feasible and only then go for deep exploration (which is much costlier ).
For every deep hole MIQ can put 5 shallow holes - just makes sense. After Kinross deal exploration budget changed substantially. It enables them to widen exploration on surface and at depth.
Without repeating all information posted by company and other investors, I expect many more good drill data coming out in 1998.
BTW I'm also convinced gold is manipulated by governments to keep
fiat currencies from crumbling. I spoke with several older market
players that remember well early seventies and how eventually
$35 per oz fell apart and cost FEDS substantial portion of gold reserves that ended in European coffers. How long they are prepared
to manipulate current market, will be seen. They definitely can control supply side. I recall Poland and China added to their gold
reserves just several moths ago.

Sincerely,

Bob Tate
