Sam, Jesus knew that what He was preaching concerning Himself would bring division of all kinds. The examples about family members was used to emphasize just how severe the division would be. He was saying even children and parents would be against each other. All the more shocking considering the structure of the Jewish family. You will have to admit that Jesus was correct. There has been division amoung people ever since about the gospel of Jesus Christ. This thread is an example also. Matt. 10:34 Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. You may think this is a reason to accuse Jesus. Not so. He has the keys of death and of hades. He accomplished our salvation. Maybe if people wanted peace then it would have happened. But the jewish priests wanted to retain their power, many jews wanted Jesus to free them from the roman's, many simply continued in unbelief. There are many reasons that peace was/is not possible and that cannot be blamed on Jesus. I think that is where you are trying to lead me so I saved you the post to make the accusation! Bob
