To extend Joe's answer, the ranking of 1 (highest) to 5 (lowest) reflects their expectation of the stock's price appreciation potential for the next year relative to the other 1700 stocks in their universe. [That's an important distinction.] Only 100 of the 1700 stocks are allowed to have a #1 Timeliness rank at any time. There are 200 rank 2 stocks. It's a dynamic system, with changes made weekly.

Typically, stocks with less than 2 years trading activity are unranked due to their short trading history. They will also suspend a timeliness rank if there material change in the company, such as the acquisition of LCI. As I mentioned earlier, VL covered both USLD (and spin off BILL), and LCI.

VL also offers their estimate of price range 3-5 years hence. I tend to take it with a grain of salt, especially with dynamic "technology" companies where the fundamentals can take a turn in a heartbeat.
