Mohan, thanks for the article.

Mohan Tambe of Innomedia Technologies who is running infokiosks in Bangalore (See Box--'New Media') believes that such services , though viable abroad may not take off here. Tambe terms the convergence of the PC and TV theory as a mere myth arising out of the confusion over the role played by each. "The TV is a social medium to disseminate information to the public, while the PC or the Net is a personal medium," he says. Quoting HP's Laurie Frick, he adds--"People are connected to the TV set through their heart and to PCs through their heads".

This convergence thing has been debated by people a lot smarter and better connected than me, but I think TV is going to appear on webbed PC's faster than the Web will appear on TV's. It's bad enough giving my 12 year old son the TV remote; who wants to watch him surf on a 32 inch screen? Not me.

Yours in Dell,
Regards,
Stewart
