Ross Manire to Leave 3Com

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1998--3Com
Corporation (NASDAQ:COMS) today announced that Ross Manire, senior
vice president of 3Com's Carrier Systems Business Unit (CSBU), has
decided to leave the company for personal reasons. Irfan Ali, vice
president of marketing for carrier systems, will be acting general
manager for the business unit while the company completes its search
for a permanent replacement.
Since June 1997, Manire has had strategic and operational
responsibilities for the company's carrier and network service
provider business, including the company's industry leading Total
Control Access Concentrator.
"The integration and future direction of the Carrier Systems
Business Unit as a part of 3Com is well established and the timing is
now right for me to move on," said Ross Manire. "Although I will miss
the challenges provided by 3Com, I'm very much looking forward to
spending additional time with my family and ultimately to exploring
new professional opportunities."
"Ross and his team have positioned 3Com to lead the next wave of
converged networks with Voice over IP (VoIP) and wireless solutions
for carriers and network service providers worldwide," said Bruce
Claflin, president and chief operating officer of 3Com.
