COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1998--QLogic Corp.
(NASDAQ:QLGC), an industry leader in I/O technology and a leading
designer of Fibre Channel interconnect solutions, today announced that
its QLA2100, QLA2100F, and QLA2000 PCI host bus adapters have been
awarded Microsoft Cluster/Fibre Channel Adapter certification for
Windows NT 4.0.
Receipt of the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL)
certification confirms for QLogic's customers that the QLA2100,
QLA2100F, and QLA2000 PCI-to-Fibre Channel host bus adapters have met
or exceeded stringent testing requirements established by Microsoft.
In addition, QLogic's industry leading customers, such as IBM, DELL,
Siemens, NCR and Intergraph have assurance that these products are
compatible with Windows NT and can operate successfully in a Microsoft
Cluster Server (MSCS) environment. By earning the "Designed for
Windows NT" logo certification, these host bus adapters will be listed
on the Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) in both the
"Cluster/Fibre Channel Adapter" and "Storage/Fibre Channel Adapter"
categories (http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/hcl/).
"QLogic has a comprehensive line of both SCSI and Fibre Channel
adapters that have either been certified or are in the process of
being Microsoft Windows and/or MSCS (Microsoft Cluster Server)
certified," said Rick Franz, director corporate marketing at QLogic.
"Combined with the most technically advanced software drivers
available today, QLogic's line of Fibre Channel products will lead the
way as Fibre Channel usage expands within the NT marketplace."
QLogic's QLA2100, QLA2100F, and QLA2000 Fibre Channel adapters
are based on the award-winning architecture of the ISP2100 Fibre
Channel chip. The ISP2100 utilizes an on-chip RISC processor to
off-load the work of managing I/O from the server and speed the
delivery of data to and from the storage subsystem. The result is a
high-performance interface technology that provides OEMs with an ease
of implementation and a performance efficiency rating unmatched in the
industry (performance efficiency rating is the I/O throughput
generated per each percentage point of host CPU resources utilized).
