JT; RE:" BuBa Rate Cut ? "

>...in this "Bundesbank"-matter with "hints" about how necessary a rate-cut would be for fighting against the unemployed-numbers... This is considered to be a very important motif for the "Bundesbank" to do NOTHING - proving their (constitutional) independence.

That seems to be the feeling among many analysts over in The States as well, Jury - that it would take a sudden change in unemployment numbers for the BuBa and possibly France to change their rates before the launch in 90 days. I would think that most of the EU would want the BuBa to steer steady as she goes ( as Tommy would say ;-) so that all the other bankers would have a dependable reference against which they could adjust their own policies.

I'm bullish on the long-term prospects of the EU; This is a remarkable achievement for europeans, and will have profound benefits for the people who live in this part of the world.

I wish there was something we (all) could do to help the CIS (Russia). But after reading several articles in The Economist and in this week's New York Times, I think they may have to wait for one whole generation to pass before they become viable again.

One place I have little understanding of is Japan; haven't got a clue what their prospects are. Would love to go over there and load up on vacuum tube amplifiers and exotic moto and auto racing parts, though (^_^) What great toys!!
