You seem to be consistent with what I discovered when I presented this difficult issue to the Republicans. They didn't want to deal with it. What if they started locking up Beanie-babies--then you'd be concerned, wouldn't you?
OK. Go ahead and support politicians who'll continue to spend 15 billion dollars putting people in jail where they'll continue doing drugs and, ultimately end up making better drug dealing connections for when they get out.
Moreoever, all we ever do when we sign these great treaties with the Latino countries, forcing 'em to terms of economic aid contingent on their behavior in OUR drug war, is violate the National Paperwork Reduction Act! More waste of money, damn it!
Aleta, every credible and recent study that's been done has shown drug treatment is a more effective strategy for dealing with the problem.
You see, the real deceit is not from me, who once ran as a Republican, but rather from our standard fare, everyday politicians who know they can get away with pushing a get-tough strategy, based on criminalization, that'll never work. But they sure look good doing it, don't they! Are privitized prisons really all that cool?
I was wondering when the Zulu thread was gonna get around to discussing drug legalization. What's the next subject?
This stock sure is giving us a lot of time to talk about a whole range of topics. Too bad everything didn't come together for us back in the days when BlueFox was promoting his Guinness pipeline. That would have been perfect timing!
Well, that's it for me on this subject--unless further agitated, of course. Enjoy the day! |
