For "safety significant" systems the answer is NO. The plant computers provide one of many diverse and redundant methods of monitoring the plant. The operators control the safe shutdown systems. For our plant one of our radiation monitoring systems is not Y2K compliant. I am told the fix may be as simple as turning the internal date back. (I think they said 1969) The main point is that there has been considerable effort to ID these noncompliant systems.

I'm told we have a comprehensive 5 year plan to deal with the problem <g>.
