The real question is how quickly will it take for the necessary masses of programmers to get on board.

Microsoft name and reputation (for killing all the competing platforms) will take care of that. As far as programming tools are concerned, MSFT is an undisputed champ. They will make sure the tools are there.

But you need 2 additional things for the programmers to get going: Hardware and wireless data service.

It would be nice if Qualcomm had a pdQ-CE close to availability. pdQ-Palm is in total limbo now.

Wireless service is still non-existant. All the talk is about CDMAone, W-CDMA, megabit rate transmissions, while we don't have even a 300 bps data service (which by the way is all you need for 90% of wireless applications)
