Semiconductor Stocks: Needham & Co predicting a 5%-20% decline in IC unit sales from October through Jan. 1999. Therefore, firm revises unit forecast to show "flatish" unit sales in 1999. Also believes that current unit data supports firm's thesis that 1999 capital equipment spending will decline for 1998 level. Based on current valuations, believes AMAT and NVLS are the two richest stocks in the chip equipment universe. Believes stocks are priced to assume far more equipment growth than likely to be the case in 1999.From Briefing.com
