<Fundamental Analysis and Economical Analysis are relegated to a second place type of study.>

My comment was to highlight the difference of opinion that the industry vs academia values as a type of investment analysis. The Disk Drive Sector is a perfect example (a few years). the Technical Analysis people were all screaming that SEG, WDC, QNTM and others had hit new highs and the future was nothing but rosy. (Didn't Chuck Haggerty of WDC tell Analysists that they might make $6.00 a share in 99 or 00.) At the same time the major brokerage firms recommendations of all of the Drive makers was identical - Strong Buys, etc. The Fundamental's had deteriated and were visible (in hindsight). None of the Brokerage firms recognized the fact until it was thrown up into their faces very rudely and abruptly.

There is a very big break between Finance Schools and the real Finance Sector in how investments are evaluated. I remember my Finance Professors screaming that TA didn't/couldn't/wouldn't work. One of my next Professors had coauthored a book with Marty Zweig about TA though. It was interesting to see the difference in attitudes.

I hope this clears up my comment some.
