I certainly agree with you regarding the triune nature of God as shown in the old Hebrew texts as well as Greek new testament. The mystery is somewhat obscured until the ministry of Christ, but nonetheless is quite evident even in the English translations. That the Hebrew word for God, "Elohim" is plural lends further credibility to your interpretation of those passages you have mentioned. The more credible English translations record God as saying "let us make man in our own image" which is an attempt to retain and preserve that plurality which is found in the original Hebrew. The weight of scripture in no way could be construed to teach polytheism, so it is logical to assume that God is indeed Father, Son, and holy spirit as Jesus and the Apostles taught. I have heard people argue that God does not have a split personality and that there is no "trinity', nor three persons to the Godhead. They explain that there is one God with three distinct offices if you will. Like a man can be husband to his wife, son to his father, and father to his son. he is one person not three, but he has three distinct offices, functions, or means of relating. I certainly hesitate to embrace this human explanation of God's mystery. I am also hesitant to embrace the term "trinity" because it has become contentious in some circles, though it's concepts would seem to be derived more directly from scripture. A more organic approach is to allow the scriptures to speak out for themselves without coining neat little one word phrases which attempt to distill great majestic truths into a single pedestrian little word. I appreciate your posting as it has stimulated me to think and remember
the scripture.
