Xerox and INSCI Corp. Sign Cooperative Marketing Agreement
Joint Effort Will Leverage the Internet, Archiving Capabilities and Printing Technologies
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1998--INSCI Corp. and Xerox Corporation [NYSE:XRX - news] today announced that the two companies have signed a cooperative marketing agreement that will offer systems solutions for fast, easy storage, retrieval and viewing of electronic documents in client/server enterprise production printing environments. Under the agreement, the two companies will conduct joint sales and marketing activities targeted at selling solutions featuring Xerox high-end production printers and INSCI's software for the digital archiving of production print documents.
The agreement, which represents a significant extension to the marketing alliance that began in mid-1996, will provide customers with solutions to streamline archiving and retrieval of such files for desktop viewing with applications such as billings, invoices, statements and other documents containing customer-specific information. By using INSCI's software, documents which can be digitally stored and printed providing on-line viewing and access to single and multiple print documents, offers a complete print-view archive solution.
''The Xerox-INSCI relationship will help customers improve productivity with leading edge technology by allowing businesses to quickly access, store, retrieve, view and print documents produced on Xerox high-speed laser printers.'' said Carl Joachim, marketing manager, Printing Systems Operations, Xerox Corporation. ''The new software technologies of digital archiving and workflow from INSCI extend customers' printing capabilities and will enable the companies to complement one another's product and market strengths.''
''INSCI primarily develops and markets enterprise-level archiving, retrieval and viewing software, with integrated on-line and Web viewing capabilities, for production print documents,'' states Dr. E. Ted Prince, Chairman and CEO of INSCI. ''Our software products provide an ideal solution for Xerox production print, publishing and copier customers who need to store their documents digitally, view them both locally and through the Web, and provide reprints and Web distribution of production print and other types of documents. These kinds of capabilities are increasingly becoming a standard requirement of these customers.''
Xerox and INSCI will work together on joint sales and marketing activities, technical support, product referrals and efforts to enhance the ability of Xerox production printing to offer complete print-view/archive solutions throughout the United States. INSCI is also one of seven global sponsors of the Xerox-led worldwide DocuWorld initiative.
Xerox will work closely with INSCI to deliver an electronic document repository with integrated Internet, imaging, workflow, print-on-demand, electronic distribution and archive (COLD) software for the enterprise level, high volume production market.
INSCI's COINSERV client/server document archive and retrieval software allows Xerox metacode-formatted documents to be indexed, compressed, archived and retrieved at very high speeds. This software allows printed documents to be viewed electronically. Once viewed, documents can then be selected for printing to a Xerox production printer. The Xerox DocuPrint family offers the industry's broadest array of cut-sheet printers ranging in speed from 50 to 180 pages per minute, including benchmark-quality highlight color and MICR capabilities.
