Glenn, no problem. "Dell" on Yahoo finance, Dell "news" brought up all those stories, as Dell was the one which commissioned the Harris survey.

I bought a book for a Christmas gift from AMZN in Christmas of '96.

I bought a CD set for a Christmas gift in that season of '97.

I have bought a laptop from the internet, but it wasn't from any of the "golden" net companies.

I will continue to make computer equip/software purchases using the web, but I found the gift-buying on the i-net to be dry and boring experiences, even though it was kind of "neat" at the time. I am ready to go back to all traditional shopping this Christmas. But, the masses may be just discovering buying gifts on the i-net, so sales may well surge for Christmas of '98. In Christmas of '99, who knows? Consumers are a fickle lot, and may decide that 'net shopping for gifts is as exciting as watching paint dry, compared to shopping in the real world.
