I tend to view the LGTO announcement in light of George's view - that this is a marketing ploy (pioneered by Novell) and means little.

Legato is going the old "XYZ Certified" route to validate their sw. Can't imagine that there would be separate drivers for Ancor and Brocade. Their FC sw driver should work with any FC standard compliant device. Ancor has demonstrated interoperability with LGTO, but has not paid to be enlisted in the "Legato Certified" program, thus is not included in the certified vendors list.

EMC's stance is curious unless it is their intention to "own FC." Somewhat akin to herding cats, don't you think? <G>
