Firstly I was not familiar with any of them! Could not find anything on Abedl-Hamid.
Ed Yeardon didn't know anything about him. Checked his website. Interesting stuff.
Am familiar with the use of System Dynamics as it applies to decision making.
When you hit me with Peter Senge, I felt as if someone put me in contact with a long unrealized brother. Laura, I can't begin to tell you how much finding him means to me! WOW!!
I just read an unofficial Department of Defense book review on his work.
His key point: we must discard the learning disabilities that are currently limiting us and controlling us and move to different philosophy and behavior pattern that leverages our capabilities to greater positive result.
I am reminded of a poster that used be on the wall at some office or another that I occupied in the distant past. Picture a stagecoach in the middle of a large stream, stuck in the water and mud. Land on either side, not too far away stuck in the middle, we see 5 children outside of the stage coach who should easily be able push the stagecoach to land.
But try as they might, straining, putting their whole hearted effort, they are just not moving. Just stuck in the mud and mire.
You could just see from where you sit what the problem was. It wasn't that they weren't strong enough or not willing to put some real effort in it. They were determined. They had their heads down, bodies and shoulders to the wood, straining with every fiber in their being. It was there, clear to your eyes and your brain. You didn't need to read their thoughts to know they were earnestly trying to get that stagecoach out.
You could easily predict that no matter how they tried, sooner or later they were going to get tired and more tired, and they just weren't going to get the stagecoach to land.
From your vantage point, the problem was easily seen. You could see that there were 3 small kids in the front of the stagecoach trying to push to the land on the other side. At the back of the stagecoach were the other 2 bigger kids pushing in the opposite direction!
If only we could get them to push in one direction! At the very least they would be on dry land, if only to rest and regroup.
Given some insightful direction they may even push towards the better choice of land and get where they needed to go!
