pezz, in many parts of Europe there is a negative growth in population. I'm sorry but it's ridiculous to worry so much about overpopulation. There is plenty of land and resources for tens of billions more people on planet earth.

The United States uses 25% of the world energy because we are the wealthiest and most industries people on the planet. Energy is a renewable resource. The sun has enough to sustain life for millions of years. Not to mention nuclear power.

The whole overpopulation doom and gloom scenario is a bunch of malarky. As more and more nations around the world turn toward capitalistic systems of government. The overpopulation problem will be one of not having enough children, vs, having too many. The same can be said regarding pollution. As nations become wealthy, they naturally turn toward caring about the environment. Environmental activism closely resembles Maslow's theory of actualization. As basic needs are met, food, clothing and shelter, other important area's of life can be dealt with. Until you meet the basic needs of society with sound economic systems. Environmental cleansing will rarely occur.
