<<I'm sorry but it's ridiculous to worry so much about over population >> I'm even sorrier that many people like your self haven't a clue as to the problems that face this planet. The real cause for your apathy is that none of the results of the over population problem have any place in your agenda.<<The United States uses 25% of the worlds energy because we are the wealthiest and most industries nation in the world>> Nooo s**t Dick Tracy. Now prey tell what will we do when China comes into the twentieth century with it's teaming billions? Doing so with highly polluting coal [which they have mucho of ] not oil. As the third world seeks to be "the wealthiest and most industries" our 25% will be multiplied by a factor of twenty,No? No more, because in their zeal to reach the status that we have already attained there will be little in the way of restraints. <<The sun has enough energy to sustain life for millions of years not to mention nuclear energy>> < sigh >Most experts think we will be lucky if we can get ever 10% of our energy needs from the sun.Unless of course you have some new technology you would like to share with us. Nuclear energy ,you must be kidding. The potential dangers not to mention it's spiralling costs have doomed this once savior to a minor roll. Would you want a nuclear power plant in your backyard? No matter what you answer for the axe you have to grind most Americans don't!<<The over population doom and gloom scenario is a bunch of malarkey>> "a bunch of malarkey" what a brilliant peace of reasoning.Explains everything ,now I understand.
The green revolution that showed so much promise is failing. The topsoil in the great bread basket will be gone in a hundred years or less.Irrigation will have destroyed the Sacramento valley much sooner. The oceans are being over fished and many stocks of fish have fallen to levels that open the question that if they can ever recover.Fish eating nations like Japan have long ago left their own waters due to lack of fish. This to feed the current population.Let alone leave room for the growth that you propose.
I haven't even mentioned potential problems such as global warming or ozone depletion because of the uncertainty of their existence.
<<the over population problem will be one of not having enough children vs having to many>> Why do I get the feeling that I am talking to the pope here? You have a religious axe to grind .You do not want to know the truth. This is obvious from your complete lack of knowledge on the subject. Even if we could change the laws of science and stuff billions more on this planet on a long term sustainable way. What would the advantage be? Why live on a sterile planet with little islands of wildlife in a sea of humanity and our domestic animals? Even the pope must admit that sooner or later we must have zero population growth. [Or do you think we can grow for ever?] why not now?
