The use of MMX has nothing to do with whether AMD or Cyrix implementations of MMX will work.

I consider this an important issue, due to the image factor (if only Intel can use the term MMX, then most people won't believe that AMD or Cyrix have the same product). In fact, AMD has licensed MMX technology from Intel (the article stated that Cyrix has tried to duplicate it themselves).
