Tom, I've done data/e-mail over cellular and it works quite well. Mind you it was a corporate system and not the Internet. Basically you call a gateway, upload your msgs. and download your msgs. As for this announcement, this is why I think CDMA has a better future than TDMA. The bandwidth required is more flexible than with TDMA. Some neat tricks will have to be done (I'm sure Dr. Frezza and the Swedes are aggressively attacking the problem) for TDMA at 13 Kpbs circuit to achieve desired speeds for the Internet or even corporate Intranets.
