>Netscape has a next generation technology -- code-named NGT -- that it says will form the foundation for its future client products. According to a company press release, NGT "represents a new milestone in the development of smaller, faster, modular applications for a wide array of computing platforms, devices and information appliances."

Netscape says that at NGT's core is a revolutionary new browser engine and technology that enables the rapid deployment of a single, standards-based user interface that works across multiple computing platforms.<

Given that Netscape has made noises about repairing its relationship with Apple, I expect this browser would nicely augment their upcoming portable -- and rumored palmtop -- units.

If Microsoft chooses *not* to create a handheld equivalent for palmtops other than Windows CE, it would put them at a distinct disadvantage in the browser wars.

Decisions, decisions ...
