I am not so sure about that since the two companies are so dissimilar. They are different branches of the same root. I think that CPU has more in common with Gateway than Dell.

One thing that I think may be significant is that Compaq is starting to get their act together. CPU sells a lot of CPQ's, so this could be a positive for the future.

However, I must say I am saddened by the statement that negative store growth is indicated for the next quarter. CPU is fairly cyclical. It climbs in the fall and winter, and falls in the spring and summer. This next quarter is the last hurrah before the normal cyclical downturn. After all, they sell most stuff when school starts and for Christmas. After that, who needs a new computer.

Of course, MSFT could effect this with their new operating system next year.
