I don't think BeOS will ever be more than a niche player. Where are the developers? Where are the applications? Where's the buzz? It's never going to overtake Apple or Linux, so it's certainly not going to pose a threat to Microsoft before either of those do.

On the other hand, it might do very well as a niche player. Who says you just need one OS in the world?
