Smart, fortunately for you all, I am here to clue you in. There are some retail establishments which will never be threatened by the web. These are Nordstroms and Bloomingdales etc like Scott Honker mentioned, very high end. But there is a HUGE class of goods where driving to the store to make the puchase is a huge waste of time and just because somebody likes to go to Nordstroms doesnt mean they want to spend their Saturday at Costco, or drug barn. In addition, taking Costco as an example, web purchasing enables fewer warehouses and volume buying. So these commodity goods are going to be cheaper over the net. In fact, if you look at the shopping patterns for a family for a month, there are only a few high end products, clothing, perishibles (maybe) that need to be purchased in person. Everything else is a candidate for online retailing. Im not defending the price of these stocks, btw.
