Hi Jim,
Very thoughtful post. I will preface this with the statement that I too see the world through CSCO colored glasses. This doesn't prevent me from recognizing that ASND has very good products. I agree that CSCO sales force is one of the key factors to CSCO's success, however I don't believe that it is the most important. One of the things that I have seen on these threads is that there is a focus on a key spec and that it is used to validate the superiority of one product over another. To illustrate: Box X has better performance specs than Box Z, but Box X doesn't support an interface or protocol that allows me to connect my legacy widget to the network. Which product provides a better solution? It is the solutions attitude rather than the "how many packets can I process attitude" to which I attribute CSCO's success.

Interesting note: In the industry, all us competitors get along with each other much better than one would expect if judging solely based on these threads. I've got friends at LU, ASND, NT, XYLN and even CSCO and even if I don't have friends in a given company, they would deserve my respect as a competitor. Even if, or maybe, especially if, my goal is to fight to win every deal at their expense. Wonder if that could be translated to these threads....
