Patents are a measure of creative activity - I am concerned that Intellectual Property (IP) rights embodied by software patents can put a chilling effect on small startup entrepreneurial software activity. But I also recognize the importance of these patents to the long term profitability of EDS and the fact that they are a measure of creative activity. EDS since its inception has profited from the creative talents of its employees in search of solutions to business problems. This valuable IP should be recognized and rewarded. EDS still has the largest collection of creative IT people in the world.
