Intel had long trying to get into the OS business. By dominating both the CPU and OS business, Intel will have the world of PCs. So, it started to use its power of monopoly in the CPU market to extend its OS business, that what is happening.

its business in other market, think of the Modem from three coms, the integration of audio/video functions , which will kill all the chip companies whose major business is audio/video chips...etc.
