O ~~~ o That one took a bit of reflection...a shortage of any kind of fab capacity at a time when Motorola is deferring completing of a large fab, and LSI is sitting with that excess Gresham (OR) capacity... but it does make some sense, after re-reading... And we can anticipate a REALLY sad story when we start moving to .18 micron IMHO...a LOT of fab capacity just isn't going to be built now, what with all the SEA problems... LSI is pre-planning for .18 micron at Gresham, and DPMI is preplanning for .18 mask support on the same (LSI) campus... but there were a large number of deferred projects in South Korea, etc. One would have to presume that these would be .25 and .18 projects, right?...
Now, who makes the big bucks out all that...besides the Taiwanese?
Well, MU seems to have captured a bit of imagination... any others?
