Wall Street Journal publisher Dow Jones & Co Inc (NYSE:DJ - news),
which relies on satellites to transmit page images to printing plants,
said on Thursday it has a contingency plan for two meteorite storms
expected to occur this year and next.

''In November 1998 and November 1999 there is expected to be a
meteoroid storm that may damage satellites in orbit around the earth,''
the company said in its quarterly report filed with the
Securities and Exchange Commission.

The statement pointed out that the last major meteorite storm took place in the 1960s ''when there were few satellites in orbit.'
