Isn't the limit $ 1,000 currently? I think you missed the point about the "contributions" of time, advertising, paying people to drive them to vote or paying them not to, low-rent or no-rent space, etc. You're focusing solely on the monetary "bribes". There are other equally, effective methods to own a candidate. When one focuses on the limitation of cash contributions, then the group which utilizes other means is at an advantage.
