ON Technology Appoints Ram Sudama as Chief Technology Officer

New officer to support ON Technology's business and technical growth in enterprise systems and solutions
ON Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:ONTC) today announced that Ram Sudama has joined the company as chief technology officer. Mr. Sudama is one of the industry leaders in the development of distributed computing technology and will be primarily responsible for further extending the company's leading open and scalable desktop management and groupware solutions.

Mr. Sudama was most recently chief technologist at Teradyne Corporation, where he provided strategic advice to the Board of Directors related to technology investments. Mr. Sudama also advised each of Teradyne's subsidiaries, helping focus product definition and design. From 1993 to 1997 he was the Vice President of Technology and Chief Scientist at Open Environment Corporation (OEC), taking it from a small startup to one of the most successful software companies in the enterprise tools business. He set the strategic direction and managed the development of OEC's line of open middleware products for creating and deploying three-tier applications. Previously, at Digital Equipment Corporation, Mr. Sudama provided technical leadership for the development of significant new technologies, including the Open Software Foundation's Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) and the display architecture used in Digital's highly successful line of video terminal products.
Prior to joining Teradyne Corporation in 1998, Mr. Sudama was president and CEO of Sandalwood Studios, Inc., where he was reponsible for consulting and product development. At Sandalwood, Mr. Sudama assisted vendors with planning and designing new software products. One of Mr. Sudama's major contributions at Sandalwood was developing a workbench that allowed developers to design, build and test large-scale enterprise applications using component architectures.
Mr. Sudama received an M.S. in computer science from National Technological University and a B.A. in humanistic studies from Johns Hopkins University, and has authored several research papers. Mr. Sudama is co-author of the book Network Monitoring Explained: Design and Applications.
