The EV1 ads on radio were originated by one of the EV1 drivers out of sheer frustration with the impossible advertising that has been put out by GM and Saturn.
The driver paid for them out of his own pocket. He wrote them as well, having some experience in show business as a TV Cameraman. As against the absurd and uninformative ads that GM had put out, they were (are) sensational. They played on a local station. Since that time (out of embarrassment) I understand that GM has reimbursed him.
Now they are playing on A PBS radio station( KCRW) quite regularly.I'm not aware if they have extended outside of the Los Angeles area.
Unfortunately most people who hear the ad have no image come to mind as the regular GM print advertising has almost never shown a picture of the car. I have, in my entire life, never seen a worse Advertising and marketing campaign than for EVs in general and the EV1 in particular.
