*********** Task force appointed to advise on housing project
In an effort to fulfill the People's United Party manifesto promise of immediately addressing the housing needs of Belizeans, minister of Housing, Hon. Dickie Bradley, has appointed a housing task force to advise on what is the best way to implement the fulfillment of the promise.
The task force is being chaired by Ray Fuller, entrepreneur and strategic planner in housing development. Others in the task force are vice-chairman Rufus X, a building contractor, member-secretary C. Trench Sandiford, a housing and planning officer, and members Pepe Garcia, engineer, and Al Chanona land developer.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Housing, the committee was appointed to "advise on an appropriate mechanism and procedures to ensure that the design, construction, assignment and management of housing projects are fair and able to meet the socio-cultural and economic requirements of new homeowners."
The specific goal, the release said, is for housing to be provided that will improve communities, giving families access to community facilities and employment opportunities. |
