(GSCN) 5 7/8 -1/16: developer and manufacturer of laser systems and components to reduce about 8% of its work force or 70 jobs due to weak markets; cutting sales force in Asia as well as it does not see a market improvement in the region or in the semiconductor sector until the latter part of 1999; plans to take a charge in Q4 of between $1 mln to $2 mln....."
