OK, it just like the phone in your house. You have a
modem inserted into your computer and you go about
your business the same as if you were hooked to wire.
Well, not exactly. Seems the cat out the bag on this little
adventure.

The AT&T and just about any data via wireless has
a slight twist to it. All of this is done, presently, over
analog circuits. Also, to do higher throughputs, you have
to steal a technology the ham radio folks have been doing
for years. Packet data is the technical term. CDPD is the
cellular industry's term. These whiz bang GSM cellphones
all have this button labeled 'Data'. That so it force's to
an analog circuit. That something the GSM mullahs
won't tell you. Prey on the niave consumer I suppose.

At anyrate, the throughput via CDPD is suppose to be
19.2 Kpbs. One other thing, it is a special modem that does this.
Your generic, el cheapo, 28.8 K modem won't do this. MAYBE
14.4, but most likely 9.6. If you like Tom, I'll post some
URL's directing to sites that explain it in more depth.

Maurice, throw water ballons at those noise neighbours!!
Got a great catapult cheap!
