Darrin,
Look:
1 Cor 1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, 2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours: 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
See that? It is a salutation to a letter. Paul writing, that he is an apostle by the will of God(an apostle of Jesus Christ I might add) and look to whom it is written. ""The Church of God in Corinth"" a real place at a real time. And to whom in the Church was he writing? ""to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours:""
He was writing to Christians, was he not. Babes in Christ that needed milk, Christians who IMO were not dealing very well with sin in the camp. Not their inner selves. Not their ego. But real sin in the flesh. And Paul dealt with it.
God Bless dan
