I found something on the internet about MicroOS (old news):

"Norris Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: NCII) announced that it has filed a patent with multiple claims for a device designed to play back CD-quality music using a postage stamp-size flash memory card. Called Flashback Audio, the entire playback device can be as small as a standard Type II PCMCIA card and completely digital with no moving parts. Flashback Audio uses SanDisk's CompactFlash as the storage media. Norris Communications developed the technology from advances in its patented Norris Flashback digital voice recorder and MicroOS operating system. MicroOS is the only operating system for flash memory that has a data transfer rate limited only by flash memory write speed. The operating system therefore supports the recording speeds required to write directly to primary memory without intermediary memory. This eliminates the need for a high-capacity buffer, allowing rapid, efficient and economical use of flash memory. The unit will feature a sophisticated compression algorithm to assure the most efficient use of flash memory."

"Norris has positioned itself to become a leading provider of technology to major Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers in the digital recording industry. The foundation for Norris's success is proprietary technology leadership in flash media and digital voice recording products. Consider the following Norris accomplishments:

First to combine a speaker and microphone with duplex capability and without significant feedback in the EarPHONE(tm), a product sold by JABRA Corporation.

First to combine flash memory with a handheld digital voice recording device

First to provide removable storage media with a handheld digital voice recorder in Flashback(R)

First to break the time barrier with virtually unlimited recording time utilizing removable, interchangeable SoundClips(R) in a handheld
digital voice recorder

First to provide high-speed downloading of voice files from a digital voice recorder to a computer using the Flashback VoiceLink(tm)

The development of the proprietary MicroOS(tm) for both of the industry standard Flash memory formats---SanDisk CompactFlash(R) and
Intel Miniature Card---positions Norris as one of the few companies in the world with experience developing for both."

"Norris Communications Inc.'s Flashback Audio system is a playback device for CD-quality music that can be as small as a Type II PCMCIA
card and completely digital with no moving parts. Music data would be stored on a postage stamp-sized flash memory card. The technology
works in part because of Norris' MicroOS operating system for flash memory, which allows a data transfer rate limited only by the flash
memory's write speed. This eliminates the need for a high-capacity buffer, allowing rapid and efficient use of flash memory. “Before the use of digital memory, there was never a playback technology completely devoid of mechanical parts,” says Elwood Norris, Norris Communications chairman. Flashback Audio also features instant random access to recorded audio, will not skip because of vibration and is compatible with computers. One use Norris envisions in concert with computers is providing CD-quality audio playback to handheld PCs, without adding much size or weight. Norris also sees Flashback Audio increasing the functionality of pagers, cellular phones, and other portable devices."
