a bit off topic here...but i was wondering..

i was watching cnbc the other day and was wondering what the criteria was to have a stock show up on the ticker tape part of the screen.. i am always looking for mvis but the only time i see it is when the final closing prices are posted at the end of the day(usually around 5:30pm est).

is there a specific criteria that the stocks need to meet or are the stocks posted done on a random basis..?
