I completely agree with you 50%.

One can only hope that very few of the designers responsible for VCR interfaces become web developers. <g>

However, you are wrong 50% -- there IS a standard for VCR programming, called VCR+. All VCRs made in the last few years support this, if I'm not mistaken, as do television programming listings.

And on the subject of your offhand remark about PCs and the windows convention -- if PCs converge with VCRs we may very well have VCRs running Windows. <g>
