There are no stupid questions, except those that go unasked.

Click START | SETTINGS | TASK BAR

Then click on the START MENU PROGRAMS tab.

At the bottom, click CLEAR.

Or alternatively, you can right click on any empty area of the "task bar" at the bottom of the screen and click "properties" to get to the same place.
